Privacy Policy

Speech App — stories, quizzes, and speech practice for families

Overview

This policy describes how the Speech App Platform and related services handle information when you use our mobile or web experiences connected to this API. The product focuses on speech and language practice (stories, quizzes, progress, and reports), not facial analysis on our servers.

Face data, camera, and biometrics

A review of this application's server code shows no APIs that accept facial images, face scans, or face-recognition templates, and no database fields on user or child profiles for face biometrics.

  • What our service does not do: We do not collect, store, or process raw facial images, face geometry, or mathematical face embeddings through this backend for authentication or analytics.
  • Device-level features: Your phone or tablet may offer separate features (for example OS face unlock or future on-device camera tools in the client app). Processing for those features is governed by your device manufacturer and operating system. Unless a future product version explicitly sends such data to our API, that biometric information is not part of the data processed by this Speech App backend.
  • Advertising: We do not use face data for advertising, and this service does not receive face data from advertisers.
  • If we ever change this: We would update this policy, obtain appropriate consent where required, and only collect face-related data through clearly described APIs.

Speech practice and learning data

Core features compare what was read or spoken with expected text to score pronunciation and comprehension.

  • The app may send text derived from speech (for example transcribed or typed representations of what the learner said) when you submit story attempts or speech-type quiz answers.
  • We store associated metadata such as accuracy or skill scores, duration, language, difficulty, and feedback summaries needed to show progress and reports.
  • Audio recording, microphone capture, and any on-device speech-to-text happen in the client; only the information your app transmits to the API is processed on our servers.

Account and child profiles

  • Parent accounts may include a mobile number, name, number of children, preferred language, verification status, and optional device tokens for notifications.
  • Child profiles may include name, date of birth, preferred language, and educational or support-related preferences (such as grade level, communication level, speech goals, and interests) used to personalize content and filters.
  • Access to child data is tied to the authenticated parent account.

Stories, media, and uploads

  • Educational content can include linked images and videos served as part of stories and lessons.
  • Certain administrative or content workflows may store files in cloud object storage (for example story assets) and return URLs used by the app.

Service providers

Depending on how you use the app, data may be processed by subprocessors that power the product, for example:

  • SMS / authentication providers for one-time login codes sent to your mobile number.
  • Cloud hosting and storage for application data and media.
  • Machine translation when content or responses are localized for supported languages.
  • Payment partners (such as PayPal or card processors) when you purchase a subscription; payment details are handled according to those providers' terms.

We use these providers only to operate and improve the service, not to sell personal information.

Security, retention, and your choices

  • We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect account and learning data.
  • Retention periods depend on product needs and applicable law; you may request account or data questions through the support channels provided in the app.
  • You can stop using the service at any time; uninstalling the app does not automatically delete server-side data until an account deletion or retention process is completed according to our operational policies.

Changes to this policy

We may update this page when features or legal requirements change. The “Speech App” description at the top reflects the scope of the codebase this policy is aligned with; material changes will be reflected here.
